1. Positioning

Professional 1D cut planning software (steel, aluminum, stainless, wood, piping) for fabrication shops. Native Windows application, bilingual French/English, with integrated business management (quotes, clients, inventory).

2. Workflow & project management

• Complete project identification: Project No., WO #, description
• Convert to project button: adds a project to History without going through a formal quote — ideal for time-and-material contracts
• Automatic duplicate detection (same Project No. + WO #) with a prompt to open the existing History entry instead of creating a second one
• Color-coded status badge + live project counter (Submitted / In progress / Completed)
• New / Save / Load a project (keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+N / Ctrl+S / Ctrl+O)

3. Multiple machines (M1 / M2 / M3)

• Up to 3 configurable machines, each with its own kerf, its own squaring allowance, its own setup time, and its own cut-time setting per profile family
• One-click switching between machines, with automatic value reload and a save confirmation if changes are pending
• The active machine at calculation time is shown as a badge on the Cut Plan, Estimate, and Quote

4. Entering the parts list

• Central table: Profile, Description, Length, Quantity, Price $/ft, Angle A, Angle B
• Multiple different profiles within the same project
• 3-level profile selector (Library → Family → Profile), with visual grouping by shape type (tubes, angles, beams, solid bars)
• Angle cuts configurable per end: 90° (square), 45°, 30°, 22.5°, each in a left or right direction, plus a custom angle (spinbox + direction)
• Automatic cut count: 90°/90° = 1 cut, any other angle = 2 cuts
• Refresh button that activates automatically whenever data changes after a calculation, to flag an outdated plan
• "Parts list" export as PDF and text, sequential numbering, with a table of required standard bars if a calculation has already been run
• Simplified mode: a button that hides the bottom panels (visualization, results, Store) to enlarge the parts list and inventory — state remembered between sessions

5. Optimization engine

• FFD (First Fit Decreasing) algorithm: sorts parts from longest to shortest, optimized placement per profile
• Offcuts managed in 3 tiers: ≤ 12 in (not recoverable, charged at $0), 13-24 in (not recoverable, charged at $/in), > 24 in (returned to inventory)
• Graphical bar visualization by color code: blue (cut part), orange (recoverable offcut), green (large offcut returned to stock), dark gray (non-recoverable offcut)

7. Financial management

• Costing labor rate + markup (%) → sale rate calculated automatically
• "Bill recoverable offcuts" option (bars with an offcut > 24 in)
• Price library: saved price history per profile with last-updated date, manual association to a purchasing standard (e.g. A500, A240), PDF export with an "Adjusted price" column for manual review
• Fully configurable taxes: customizable labels and rates (e.g. GST 5% / QST 9.975%, or HST, GST, VAT depending on region)

8. Generated documents (PDF)

Every PDF displays a badge showing the active machine (M1/M2/M3) at calculation time.

9. Data import / export

• CSV/Excel import: Profile, Description, Length, Quantity, Price, Angle A, Angle B columns; automatic separator detection (comma/semicolon) and encoding (UTF-8/ANSI); detailed report of imported/skipped rows
• Excel export (.xlsx): project summary, parts list, per-bar cut plan, complete financial detail
• CSV export: two files (summary + detail), semicolon separator

10. Client book

• Centralized client records: instant search by name, company, or phone
• Add, edit, delete
• Direct selection from the Quote dialog to pre-fill fields

12. SysCut Max — real-time inventory management (add-on module)

• Stock is billed at the same price as new material, to progressively recover the value of material already in inventory
• Add, edit, delete bars and offcuts; automatic grouping of identical offcuts (same profile and length)

Max — everything in Essential, plus real-time inventory management (SysCut Max): stock per profile, automatic detection of recoverable offcuts, lookup on every optimization, priority to stock/offcuts over buying new, PDF inventory reports.

The same add-ons (Wood, Aluminum Extrusion, Piping, Custom profiles, Favorites) are available for both plans.
